Room data sheets (or RDS) are used to capture in a systematic manner the details and requirements for each space on the project. These are usually prepared by the client during the time of briefing (also called architectural programming in the US) of the design process. They may be updated throughout the design process to reflect changes or to give a clearer picture to the people who are responsible for delivering the project.
The Room Data Sheets SmartTool allows you to create room (or space), data sheets using the Revit project. It is a quick and accurate tool that can be used for sheet, elevation and schedule views. The tool can produce 3D plans elevations, plans, and schedule views of rooms or spaces.
By default the tool will utilize the Room Numbering template and Sheet Format set by the Revit project, however, a different sheet name and style can be selected from the Tool Options tab. Alternatively, click ‘Load Configuration …’ on the toolbar to load previously saved configurations which will replace the current settings. This reduces the amount of manual work needed for each different room or space type and size.
The ‘Naming’ tab allows the user to select whether the chosen room/space is included in data management tutorial the Sheet Name text box that appears on the left side of the screen. ‘View Name:’ specifies the text that appears in the title bar for each view, and ‘View Increment:’ specifies the increment between each view once it is placed on the sheet. The ‘Spacing:’ option can be enabled to control the space between each view on the sheet and’Exclude View Titles in estimating view sizes on Sheets:’ will prevent titles from being included in determining the number of views that will fit on a sheet.
